Behind the Canvas

It is generally known that many creatives have an inclination toward moodiness. I am no exception, and was having one of those days. An artist friend and fellow member of the Painted Ladies suggested we go paint at our favorite Alaska spot not too far from our homes. For a brief two to three weeks, the Eklutna Flats put on a wildflower show that no human being should miss. Miles and miles of wild irises, shootings stars, chocolate lilies, Jacob's ladder, dandelions and many other varieties fill the air with the fragrance. As I sat in the grass painting this scene, breathing the fresh Alaska air, I briefly remembered my previous sour mood, and how I had wished for deliverance from my hardships. And I smiled. For that perfect moment, there was no where else I would have rather been. For that moment, my longing for Heaven would just have to wait.
