Image Description
Impressionistic original oil painting of bright pink potato flower on an abstract background by Oregon contemporary artist Talya "Tali" Johnson.
Behind the Canvas
There is little more exciting than digging for gold, and in this case, red! Red potato blossoms are among the loveliest in my Alaskan garden. Their blooming indicates tiny, yummy potatoes are forming beneath the ground. I can think of no better life lesson of patience, faith, and hard work. During the long winter months this quiet painting will remind you that that you reap what we sow...eventually, and that signs will be given along the way to reassure you of the harvest. Done in the impressionist style, this oil painting was created from the leftover palette scrapings of the previous portrait I worked on. I was amazed at how far I could push what artists generally call mud. Be sure to zoom in and see the brush work! ~Tali
