    Image Description

An original oil painting landscape of a mountainside lavender farm. A bright red house peeks out from chartreuse trees and a field of purple lavender while mountains roll lazily in the background. Mountainside Lavender was painted by contemporary impressionist Talya Johnson.

    Behind the Canvas

Mountainside Lavender is a small family-run farm nestled in the hillside of Chehalem Mountain in the community of Scholls, Oregon. They have over 2000 lavender plants representing more than 20 varieties of both French and English lavenders in several colors (white, pink and shades of purple). The farm is open to the public for U-pick in summer. Visitors enjoy spectacular mountain views of Mount Hood, St. Helens, Rainier, the Coast Range and the surrounding countryside while immersed in the splendid aroma of our purple fields.

I had the privilege of painting at this farm for several days during the Oregon Lavender festival. Sitting leisurely in the highest spot, I soaked in the warm, fragrance and stunning landscape among some of my favorite people. It was one of those perfect days--perfect moments that are so precious.

May this miniature oil painting bring you the solace that only a hot summer afternoon among busy honeybees, heavenly aroma, the best food, wine and friends can bring. Open a window to Oregon's scenic outdoors with Oregon wall art printed with Mountainside Lavender.
